Hello UNDP,
First of want to applaud Helen Clark, and the UN for continuing to be the torch bearers for progress! Without your work imagine where the world would be. No checks and balances or accountability leads to the past mistakes.
I am studying your work and responses to the question " how can we end poverty." The pattern among the answers is starting to reflect the same issues. Increase spending in education. Give people in the LDC's control of the industrys which supply the world, with resources. By this they need governments who spend money on industrialization and less on military. Need more leaders like the WEC Forum speakers who are sincere and want this done for their citizens but somtimes don't have the technolgy to make it happen. They sometimes reach a ceiling where they have no choice but to use foreign mechanisms to manufacture their resources because of years of colonialization. Years of unfair trade policys that have left them in a state of poverty.
The effects of which do not dissappear overnight. Even with dedicated countries help who understand poverty first hand, its still a lasting issue. Just because, South Africa is now a democracy does not mean the effects of colonialism dissapear. In places like India and Africa people speak of auditing and holding goverment officials responsible as well. Local leaders responsible. But this is a Worldwide issue as well. If you are not loyal to the constituency that pays your salary who are you loyal too. But not just politicians everyone should adopt this philosophy. No matter what walk of life. If I get capital from the public in any form. If I get funding from teens to support a exotic lifestyle I should be responsible for making sure teens are properly educated. If I accept money from senior citizens for medication, I should have a social responsiblity to do something for senior citizens. This should be a Bill American citizens should put before Congress. Also other countrys should consider
presenting to their governments. MDG' was the brainchild of neccessity and common sense. Why any nation in a global reccession thinks this is something to blow off as trvial is absurd. As the World cries become louder, the real trivial will begin to be noticeable. The distractions will become obvious. The only question will be the source and why. As salaries become the QUESTION OF THE MILLENIUM, heres my not changing the subject webpage. People should demand also that salaries equal PURPOSE. If I build the international Space Station to try and progress the whole of humanity we should be thinking about my worthiness. Thinking about funding. If a school is not built but you build anything that does not employ the poor we should be thinking why. Also if your not considering helping advance industry in impoverished nations but you plan on spending their resources you have a complex against the starving! I am a big fan of Stimulus but the next
one should go towards a goverment operated factorys. Owned by the peop
If the goverment can be in the real estate business they can take part in manufactoring or technology. I think
its safe to say the Constitution could use a updated version to not be a loophole
guide. Something written 234 years ago is obselete if its not being used to serve its people. I think the only way to truly become a global community where fairness exist is to use ideas like the UNPA club talks about and draft policys that reflect todays world. Private interest should be tooken out of democracy. Everyones interest, period. Every countries interest should refect the UN mission statement!
WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and
to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and
small, and to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and
to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom
Global Interest Groups create peace!
We still have to note that the wealthiest (per capita income countries) and growing countries dont have a few people with money. The wealth is spread so it can be put to use. They make a point to advocate enterprise and education. The standards of living are higher in the norweigan countries because their economic philosophy makes sense! We have to duplicate what makes a country have a high per capita income in every country. In 2010 or 2015 there is no excuse for extreme poverty. Concious competiveness also should be just as important as its competiveness. How a nation upholds its oath to the UN.
Godbless
Sincerly
